Modern Warfare 4 best sensitivity and ADS settings for controller
The best Modern Warfare 4 controller sensitivity and ADS settings, from the 1.65 starting point and the 0.95 ADS multiplier to the deadzone fix that cures most wandering aim.

Quick answer
Start both sticks on 1.65, the ADS sensitivity multiplier on 0.95 and the aim response curve on Dynamic. Most players sit between 1.5 and 1.9, and going past that costs more control than it gives in turning speed. Keep Target Aim Assist on and set the ADS transition timing to Instant. If your aim still wanders, run the deadzone test before you touch another number.
These settings are for controller. Aim that feels all over the place in Modern Warfare 4 almost always traces back to a drifting stick, a base sensitivity that is too high, or an ADS multiplier that does not match how the stick feels without scoping. This page works through them in that order.
Best sensitivity and ADS settings
| Setting | Start with | Worth testing |
|---|---|---|
| Horizontal stick sensitivity | 1.65 | 1.50 to 1.90 |
| Vertical stick sensitivity | 1.65 | 1.55 to 1.90 |
| ADS sensitivity multiplier | 0.95 | 0.90 to 1.00 |
| ADS sensitivity transition timing | Instant | Leave it |
| Aim response curve type | Dynamic | Standard |
| Custom sensitivity per zoom | Off | Covered below |
| Target aim assist | On | Leave it |
Check your deadzone first
A stick that drifts looks exactly like bad aim, so rule it out before changing sensitivity. In the controller settings, switch on Test Stick Deadzone and let go of both sticks. A number shows up under each one. Set that stick’s Min deadzone one point above it and test again until the number stays at zero. Leave Max around 99.
Do not push Min higher than it needs to be. Every extra point is stick travel the game ignores, and that makes small corrections feel sticky.
Set your base sensitivity
1.65 turns fast enough for a quick 180 and still lets you stop on a head. Go much lower than 1.5 and you cannot keep up with someone strafing across you. Go past 1.9 and the crosshair skids through the target, which also carries you straight through the aim assist slowdown zone.
Vertical can match horizontal. Some players run it a notch under, like 1.55 against 1.65, because most gunfights are decided by side-to-side turns.
- Pick a mark. Load the Firing Range and choose one spot on a wall.
- Strafe past it. Move left and right while keeping the crosshair on that spot.
- Read the miss. If the crosshair swings beyond the spot, take 0.05 off. If it falls behind, add 0.05.
- Change one thing at a time. Play a few matches on the new number before you move anything else.
ADS sensitivity multiplier
This scales your sensitivity when you aim down sights. At 1.00 scoping feels the same as looking around, and anything under that slows the stick. 0.95 is a safe start. Drop to 0.90 if you overshoot targets as soon as you scope, and move up to 1.00 if close range tracking feels heavy. Change it in 0.05 steps.
Set the transition timing to Instant. Gradual eases into your ADS speed after you press aim, and that delay is the last thing you want in a fight.
Custom Sensitivity Per Zoom gives each optic its own multiplier. Leave it off until the main multiplier feels right. When you do turn it on, the usual spread is 0.80 to 0.90 for low and mid zoom and 1.00 from 6x upward.
Aim response curve
Dynamic gives you a quick start once the stick leaves the centre, which is why most players run it. Standard ramps up more evenly. Switch to it if small stick movements make you overshoot. There is a Linear option as well, with a slope scale that blends it with Standard, and it is only worth the fiddling once everything else is sorted.
Aim assist
Keep Target Aim Assist on. Controller matchmaking assumes you have it, so switching it off only makes fights harder. The assist type matters more than most players realise. Black Ops turns the camera hardest when an enemy strafes across you, so it suits the close and mid range fights that make up most of MW4. Precision only kicks in when the reticle is already near the target, which makes it the pick for long rifles.
A very high field of view makes the assist feel weaker. If the assist fades after you push FOV toward 120, bring FOV down before you blame the sensitivity.
If it still feels off
Vibration should be off, and so should the PS5 trigger effect. Both add small interruptions right when you are trying to hold steady. After that, check the gun. A weapon with heavy recoil feels like bad sensitivity, so build one with solid Apex attachments and pick it from the weapon tier list. The perk tier list covers the rest of the loadout.
